Greetings! My name is Tyler Montana Prescott, and I am excited to serve as your Treasurer for the AAAO.
I was elected in 2020 to serve the citizens of Clarke County as their Revenue Commissioner. I hold a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of West Alabama, a master’s degree from Troy University, and a Juris Doctorate from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. I am involved in numerous civic organizations, including our local Lion’s Club, Library Board Foundation, and Spay/Neuter Program.
Since taking office, I have endeavored to bring the Revenue Commissioner’s Office to the people of my county. This has included adding an online payment option and increasing our online presence through a new website. I am passionate about what “we” do as assessing and collecting officials. What we do in our jobs directly impacts the lives of everyone in our county and state. Our assessments determine the amount of taxes that will fund our schools, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, municipalities, and county government. Educating taxpayers about exemption opportunities helps to ensure that the elderly and disabled receive their proper exemptions, thus allowing them to save their money for other necessities. Proper collection efforts help to prevent taxpayers from losing their properties for unpaid taxes. Our mapping helps to identify the owners of all land in our counties, and the use of GIS helps to make this information readily available to our citizens and stakeholders. In other words, what we do matters, which is why I decided to run for the position of Revenue Commissioner.
In addition to my duties as Clarke County Revenue Commissioner and Treasurer of the AAAO, I am also a member of IAAO (the International Association of Assessing Officers), NACCTFO (the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers, and Finance Officers), CROAA (County Revenue Officers Association of Alabama), and AATA (Association of Alabama Tax Administrators). Additionally, I am a licensed attorney and member of the Alabama State Bar. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, antiquing, and being outdoors.
If I can be of assistance to you at any time, do not hesitate to call, text, or email me
