AAAO Mission
The Alabama Association of Assessing Officials was formed in 1981 to:
- Inculcate and stimulate a high degree of integrity and justice in the administration of tax laws in the State of Alabama.
- Promote the concept that professionalism is fundamental to sound assessment and to improve means for the collection and distribution of useful information relating to assessment practices.
- Educate the public on basic tax principles and to orient the public on the role of assessing officials in local government.
- Conduct research and public studies.
- Attain and maintain the highest standards of personnel requirements in assessment offices.
- Cooperate with other agencies, public and private, interested in improving tax administrations.
- Take whatever action necessary to ensure that uniformity, equity, and justice prevail in the distribution of the tax burden.

Education
Our goal is to offer several educational programs in a variety of formats that will help members continue their professional development. We are working to increase the State Certification pass rate and mentor members through the process of earning AAAO’s nationally recognized Designation's.

Volunteering is an integral part of our Chapter's success. Your work as a volunteer will not only be beneficial to the Chapter but also to you. As a volunteer, you can help guide change around the State and have an opportunity to develop and demonstrate your leadership skills.

We offer numerous opportunities to allow our members to network and find mentors. You will have the opportunity to build your resume experience and expand your professional network.

Mission Statement
The purpose of The Alabama Chapter is to raise the standards of the profession, increase education opportunities, and gain for our members’ recognition as being qualified, objective, and unbiased assessors of property values.

Vision Statement
The Alabama Chapter will be the leader and foremost source of standards, professional development and advancing fair and equitable property appraisal in Alabama.

Values
The Alabama Chapter shall provide equal access to membership and opportunity of leadership and programs without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.
