Darla West, Cullman Alabama
Darla West has served as AAAO Treasurer since August of 2019, and she is looking forward to a great 2021 conference, reunited with Association members from all over Alabama.
“I can’t wait to meet in person again with our AAAO folks and the leadership from the Alabama Department of Revenue as we continue to find innovative and effective ways to serve our taxpayers. I’m really excited about the upcoming conference sessions on disaster planning and cross training, because we really learned the importance of both over the 2020 and 2021 collection periods impacted by COVID-19,” West said.
Darla West joined the staff of the Cullman Revenue Commissioner as chief clerk in December 2012. After more than 20 years in high-tech corporate marketing communications and education, followed by a six-year stint in hospital fundraising, West was ready for new challenges of public service vs. the private or medical philanthropy. Through this vocational change, West has focused on assisting customers to better understand basic tax principals and the role of their assessing official and staff in local government. For continued tax assessing professional development, West has become a part of this AAAO leadership, first as a district representative and currently as its treasurer.
